General Questions

Could you add the ability for users to create user / custom presets within the Dehancer Pro plug-in?

We’re working on it, but at the moment we cannot announce the exact dates of the feature release.

What benefits does the Dehancer Pro plugin have compared to the new Film Emulation introduced with DaVinci Resolve 19?

We are excited to witness the development of any tools that promote film aesthetics. However, for several reasons, we do not believe the comparison is valid at the moment.

Film Look Creator doesn’t emulate specific film stocks, rather abstract film looks. Film effects in DaVinci Resolve are less likely to reproduce the physics of the analogue processes, while simplified adjustments do not allow to emulate the exact film properties faithfully.

Nevertheless, we credit Blackmagic Design for popularizing film and would be pleased if the new tools could help you get a rough idea of what components make up a film image.

Is Dehancer Online available for the existing Dehancer users for free?

Dehaner Online is an innovative product with its own independent subscription. There are no special offers available at the moment.

Is Dehancer compatible with Intel Mac machines?

Starting from OFX plugin v7.1 update we implemented an experimental workaround that gives some chance to Intel Iris/HD, still not recommended by performance criteria.

The core engine will be accordingly updated in all Dehancer desktop products in a while.

Is Dehancer compatible with Affinity Photo?

Currently, Affinity Photo support has beta status and may be unstable. Purchase and use it at your own risk.

Please follow our system requirements and installation instructions carefully to maximize your chances. However, due to the nature of Photoshop plug-in support in Affinity, we cannot guarantee the functionality of Dehancer plug-in within this host application.

Is there a batch editing option in Lightroom?

Sending more than one photo at a time is impossible with external editing features and limited by the host-plugin relationship architecture. Feeding the source RAW file to the plugin is also technically impossible at the moment. But we are happy to inform you that the full-featured desktop application with RAW support, image browser, visualisations, batch processing and more is fighting its way to public beta and will probably be released this year.

Please refer to the batch editing section of the official Quick Guide .

I would like to be able to create presets as happens on the iOS and Lightroom versions. Is it possible?

We will implement workspaces and custom presets functionality in the future updates.

There seems to always be film grain displayed, even if fully turned off by setting the amount to 0.

It's absolutely normal. On real film grain is present regardless. Since grain has texture and forms a structure, the minimum size of granules has certain dimensions and therefore is represented by a group of pixels. Grain cannot be smaller than a certain size, as this would turn it into noise.

However, you can deactivate the Grain tool by deactivating the dedicated checkbox.

You can learn more about how the Grain tool works .

Do I have to film in Log for Dehancer to work?

Shooting in Log gamma gives more space for correction, however Dehancer works well with any normal contrast source shot in Rec.709 or HLG.
