1. PRO plugins - Advanced Color Pipelines

Dehancer features a broad set of color pipelines and gamma standards, exclusive to Dehancer Pro OFX.

ACES (Academy Color Encoding System) is supported as the production pipeline and also provides smoother colour and tone.

DaVinci WG/Intermediate (DaVinci YRGB Color Managed) makes full use of the wide gamut source and provides the headroom for out of gamut colours such as saturated highlights, neon tubes etc.

Cineon Film Log support allows using Dehancer for colour grading of the film scans in Cineon gamma and for specific film-like workflows with Cineon timeline.

Dehancer Pro supports:

  • Rec. 709
  • Rec.2020 (SDR)
  • Apple Gamma 2.0
  • ACEScct AP1
  • DVR WG Rec. 709
  • DVR WG Intermediate
  • Cineon Film Log

2. Lite plugins - Basic Color Pipelines

Dehancer features a broad set of color pipelines and gamma standards. Lite version includes the most needed.

Dehancer Lite supports:

  • Rec.709
  • Rec.2020 (SDR)
  • Apple Gamma 2.0

3. Ps, LrC, C1, APh - Photo Color Spaces

Dehancer supports the SRGB lEC61966-2.1 standard for input and output files. Image processing is performed in a virtually unlimited space with floating point precision.

💡 Usually film emulation doesn't require the colour gamut wider than sRGB due to the natural printed media compression. Probably you won't get any theoretical or practical benefits from working in AdobeRGB or ProPhotoRGB. Advanced color spaces will be supported in the future updates.

📘 Follow the Recommended Color Settings to properly set up your workflow.

4. Final Cut Pro - Standard SDR and Wide Gamut HDR color space

At the moment Dehancer only supports SDR color grading in Final Cut Pro. It means that your working color space should be set to ‘Standard’.

To check this, select your Library in the Libraries Sidebar, then click the Modify button in the Library Properties panel. A dialogue will pop-up, showing current color space settings.

If there are any HDR source clips in your project, they should be conformed to Rec.709 SDR to be properly processed with Dehancer.

Use the built-in HDR Tools effect, prior to Dehancer plugin:

5. DaVinci Resolve OFX - Supported timeline color spaces and gamma

Dehancer natively supports the following color spaces and gamma as input and output of the plugin:

Rec.709

Rec.2020 (SDR)

Apple Gamma 2.0 ACEScct (AP1)*

DVR WG Rec.709*

DVR WG Intermediate *

Cineon Film Log *

* Featured in Dehancer Pro

  1. Dehancer can properly process the source in any of the above listed spaces, assuming that the plugin Input settings match the actual color space / gamma of the footage (taking into account possible color transformation nodes before the plugin).
  2. The output of Dehancer always matches its Input color space setting.
  3. If the desired color space is not in the list, you can use any of the DaVinci built-in tools as a workaround:
  • Put the Color Space Transform (CST) nodes before and(or) after Dehancer to make it compatible with your particular timeline settings.
  • Use the DWG or the YRGB Color Managed to setup the timeline input and output independently in the Project Settings.
  • Use the complete ACES pipeline to take advantage of the Input Device Transform (IDT) for your clip interpretation and the Output Device Transform (ODT) for the required delivery.
